We got tired of flipping bottles over.
It started the way it starts for a lot of people: standing in the bathroom, turning a bottle over, and not recognising half of what was printed on the back.
The more we read, the less we liked. “Fragrance” that can legally stand in for dozens of undisclosed chemicals. Preservatives the EU restricts but other markets still allow. Labels that say “clean” and mean nothing at all.
So we stopped buying and started making.
We chose to do fewer things. One shampoo, one hand cream, one bar of soap, the products that touch your skin most often. Each one is made in small batches in North America, with botanical oils doing the work.
We answer every email ourselves. If something on a label surprises you, write to us and we'll explain it. That was the whole point.
